Refugee Outreach Initiative

UCLI’s refugee outreach initiative is designed to create spaces of proximity between attorneys and Utah’s diverse refugee populations. In that spirit, UCLI is providing legal education and awareness of the law to Utah refugees through refugee seminars.

Opportunities

UCLI is seeking volunteers to present short video conferences this summer for refugee entrepreneurs associated with the International Rescue Committee’s Spice Kitchen Incubator project.  UCLI would like to provide IRC with volunteers willing to provide 20- to 40-minute presentations on aspects of the law as it relates to small business operations throughout the summer.  The presentation topics would include such issues as employment law in the workplace, permitting and compliance, trademarks, landlord/tenant law, contracts, and payroll and tax issues.

Get Involved

If you are interested in presenting a video conference for our local refugee entrepreneurs, hosting another type of refugee training seminar, or getting involved with UCLI’s Refugee Outreach Initiative in some other capacity, please contact UCLI’s Community Outreach Co-Chair, Cliff Parkinson, at
