UCLI Bar Review Scholarship

The Young Lawyers Division of the Utah State Bar (YLD) and the Utah Center for Legal Inclusion (UCLI), with support from community sponsors, are pleased to announce the 2026 UCLI Bar Review Scholarship.

Purpose

Graduating law students preparing to sit for the July 2026 Utah State Bar examination are invited to apply for a scholarship ranging from $500 to $2,000. The scholarship is designed to assist with costs related to studying for and taking the Bar exam. Awards will be based on financial need, community involvement, and potential to positively contribute to Utah’s legal field.

Eligibility

To apply, students must:

  • Be enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school whose students are eligible to sit for the Utah State Bar exam in 2026;
  • Be an active member of a law school club, leadership organization, or other meaningful student involvement;
  • Have applied for the July 2026 Utah State Bar Exam; and
  • Not have full coverage for Bar exam registration and preparation from an employer or institution.

* This year, the scholarship is limited to students attending law school in Utah.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be evaluated by a review committee appointed by YLD and UCLI, based on:

  • Commitment to practicing law in Utah;
  • Demonstrated record of community involvement;
  • Potential to contribute positively to Utah’s legal field; and
  • Financial need related to Bar exam and preparation costs.

Eligible Expenses

Scholarship funds may be used to reimburse costs associated with preparing for and taking the Bar exam, including but not limited to:

  • Bar exam application and registration fees, including base fees, computer fees, NCBE fees, and MPRE fees;
  • Bar review courses and materials, including Barbri, Kaplan, Themis, Quimbee, Helix (AccessLex), Adaptibar, Critical Pass, Lean Sheets, NCBE study aids, and other approved resources;
  • Related Bar prep expenses that are necessary for preparation for students who cannot work full-time while studying.

*The review committee may approve additional related costs at their discretion to ensure students can focus on exam preparation.
