Beginning in 2019, UCLI has employed interns every semester. UCLI hosts 3 intern cohorts annually in the Winter/Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters. Interns have joined us from undergraduate institutions across Utah, the country, and even internationally. Most of these students have ties to Utah or plan to study or practice law in Utah. To date, four former interns are currently attending law school. Interns work closely with UCLI staff and committees. They work on projects such as PLEDGE events and programming, social media campaigns, website content development, event planning, and grant-writing and research.
The internship provides opportunities for participants to gain valuable research and writing skills. There are also several chances to network with attorneys and judges throughout Utah. Each internship is 15 weeks long, starting at the beginning of a given semester. Interns work mostly remotely for 10 hours per week. Interns receive a stipend for the duration of the internship. Applications open roughly 1 month before the start of each semester.
Since 2019, UCLI has employed a total of 47 interns. The data below was collected from 47 interns between January 2020 and May 2024.
