Alison J. Adams is the Chief Deputy Clerk of Court for the United States District Court for the District of Utah. Alison received her law degree from the University of Utah College of Law in 1994, where she graduated Order of the Coif and was the managing editor of the Utah Law Review. After graduation, Alison served as a law clerk for the Honorable Stephen H. Anderson on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Alison’s career with the federal district court in Utah began in 1997 when she left private practice to serve as a career law clerk for the Honorable David K. Winder. A decade later, in 2007, when Judge Winder retired from the bench, Alison became the career law clerk for the Honorable Dee V. Benson and worked with Judge Benson for the next 14 years. Following Judge Benson’s passing in late 2020, Alison spent a year clerking for Magistrate Judge Jared C. Bennett, and then assumed the career law clerk position with District Judge David Barlow. Alison served as Judge Barlow’s career clerk until March of 2023 when she was appointed Chief Deputy Clerk for the District of Utah.
