Do you have 30 minutes once a week to help bridge the gap and connect with a student? Every Friday, either at 10:30 or 11:00 a.m., you can sit in your office (or kitchen) and Zoom with a sixth-grade student at Meadowlark Elementary, a Title I school with a diverse mix of Latino, Pacific Islander, African, Asian, and White youth. Select either the 10:30 or 11:00 slot, give 30 minutes each week to mentoring, and see the students progress in lawyer-like skills, such as persuasive writing, public speaking, etc. The teacher and UCLI handle all logistics. You just show up on Zoom. Feel free to recruit a friend to join you! If you’d like to volunteer, please email by Friday, September 24 at 5:00 pm.
UCLI also needs attorneys to serve as mentors to our diverse law students at BYU and the U. Each mentor-attorney will be paired with another attorney (again, feel free to bring your friends) to provide team mentoring to one or more students. Meet at least monthly with your student, which can include group activities hosted by UCLI. Again, if you’d like to volunteer, please email by Friday, September 24 at 5:00 pm.
